For starters I would like recognize the fact that over the years the interest in politics has increased. I feel like back in time not many people cared about the presidency or elections. Or in some cases people were not allowed to vote. In the past, " restrictions based on property ownership and wealth, woman, blacks, and native americans were denied the right to vote" (72); only white male were allowed to vote. But, over time with the help of the increase in technology we are more aware of what is happening around us, that now we are interested in the world we are living in. Apart from technology, social media, and influencers such as celebrities and artist they have put their voice to use and expressed how they politically feel into their songs, talent, and more. This has taken a big influence in peoples political decision, but in overall people are more concern about voting, and issues in society today. Now and days, when their is a poll, everyone is encouraged to vote and people are promoting that they voted in their social media accounts or even wearing the 'I Voted' sticker. According to the book, "voting is an example of loyalty, a passive but constructive response to the government actions" (70). A persons one is taken into consideration but only to a certain extend. Once a poll has collected the data they are able to see where most people stand. For example, This for the presidency poll we are able to see which states are more democratic and which are more republican. Knowing where citizens around you politically stand is very important because you want to feel safe in your community.

A legislative is a place where law are discussed and taken into account to make the state better and improved. As stated in the chapter, some of the issues that are discussed are bettering schools. This issue ties back to my volunteer work at the Boys and Girls Club because I am working with children.
