DUE: Chapter 12 Taxing & Spending
Blog: Does your CP rely on money or services provided by any other entity (public or private)? Are the money or services provided in a consistent and reliable manner or is the CP subject to periodic application, approval, re-application, etc.? How does this consistency, or lack thereof, affect your CP’s operations? Do other people or organizations rely on your CP to provide funding?
The Community Partner that I am working with rely's to get money from donations. Donors go to school sites and see the job we are doing and from there they donate money into the program. Many times donors also volunteer and work hands on in the classroom to get to know the kids and the program a little more. Thankfully every donor that has visited a school site has donated money. I am sure that there probably has been times that donors did not want to donate but, for the most part everyone donates. This could be a risk factor because there could be a time the Boys and Girls Club doesn't get any money, then that would highly affect the whole organization. This fact that we rely on getting profit from donors could be dangerous because worst case scenario, we stop getting money and no one will get paid. But, I high doubt that will very happen because this has became big. The program is in many school and has been proven to help students in many ways. Not only are children receiving the help they need but, parents are also. Boys and Girls Club does provide funding for mentors who are going to school and working full time. They will fund you some money based off how much you are paying for your tuition. So, student workers rely on that money. Also They allow donors to donate for some money to students that are in the program.

For starters I would like recognize the fact that over the years the interest in politics has increased. I feel like back in time not many people cared about the presidency or elections. Or in some cases people were not allowed to vote. In the past, " restrictions based on property ownership and wealth, woman, blacks, and native americans were denied the right to vote" (72); only white male were allowed to vote. But, over time with the help of the increase in technology we are more aware of what is happening around us, that now we are interested in the world we are living in. Apart from technology, social media, and influencers such as celebrities and artist they have put their voice to use and expressed how they politically feel into their songs, talent, and more. This has taken a big influence in peoples political decision, but in overall people are more concern about voting, and issues in society today. Now and days, when their is a poll, everyone is encouraged to vote and...

Blog: How are California’s State Legislature and/or local governments using their power to preserve state and local values in the face of conflicting Federal policies? "Legislators engage in three principal functions: Policymaking, representation, and overnight.. the twenty-first century found legislator debating such issues as a budget shortfalls, health care, higher education, and alternative energy sources" (119). This chapter focuses on the issues that a legislator deals with and the role of being a legislative leader. A legislative is a place where law are discussed and taken into account to make the state better and improved. As stated in the chapter, some of the issues that are discussed are bettering schools. This issue ties back to my volunteer work at the Boys and Girls Club because I am working with children. I am so working in a community that is located in a low income community and could use some government help to improve their education skills and schools...

Question: Why is there tension between the state and the local levels of government? In what ways is this tension healthy for our political system overall? The reason for why tension exists between the state and local government is because of the revenue sharing idea. Revenue Sharing gives states and localities greater flexibility in program spending and decision making. This new remedy allows states and locals to make decisions for themselves, and what they believe is best for their state or cities. Only citizens who are living in a city know about the problems they have to face daily. A local level of government are more involved in specific issues because they are dealing with a smaller population. As for the state, they work with broader,  bigger issues. Their problems may be the same yet still different. For example, same sex marriage at local city like San Fransisco choses to stand for LGBT rights. Same sex marriage is encouraged all over SF. You can see the same sex marri...
